Siamese Cats
One of the oldest and most beautiful cats is Siamese cats that first originated from South East Asia more precisely Thailand. The cats have large blue eyes with body that has colored patterns that are beautiful to watch.
All Siamese cats have colored patterns at different part of bodies more specifically on ear, feet, and tail. The scientific explanation of this phenomenon is that these marks are devolved on the warmer parts of the body. They have light fur with big head.
The fur is light so it frees the cat owner from hassle of cleaning the cat’s hair regularly. The points on the fur are usually of dark brown, grey and lilac color. And these patterns continue to get darker with age.
Siamese have almond shaped blue eyes with short coat. Sometimes a kink is produced in the tail as a faulty breeding but it has not been witnessed for some times now in recent Siamese Cats.
Siamese are intelligent cats that rely on human companionship to overcome their loneliness.
One of the striking features among them is their voice that resembles the cry of a human baby. They are found to become much attached to humans and are very demanding of their attention. They are known to be dependent to humans as they lack the traits of traditional cats that make them self existent in the human’s world.
Because of their eyes, they cannot see well at night thus it limits their movement during the night. Also with their non existent fur it becomes difficult for them to prey that in turns make them more dependent on the humans.
A bit of Siamese cat history is that Siamese cats have existed for centuries in Thailand. The pointed cat known in the West as "Siamese" is one of several breeds of cats from Siam described and illustrated in manuscripts called "Tamra Maew" (Cat Poems), estimated to have been written in the 1700s.
There are two types of Siamese Cats these days:
Modern Siamese Cats
Traditional Siamese Cats
Siamese cats with a rounder, more moderate body and head type than today's show Siamese are called Traditional Siamese, also know as the Applehead or Classic Siamese. They are also talkative, affectionate cats, and appear in traditional seal, blue, chocolate and lilac point colors.
The Traditional Siamese is not considered a separate breed by most breed registries and normally are registered simply as Siamese. The Traditional or Applehead Siamese does not compete at cat shows.
The two types emerged due to the cat breeder’s interest in the modern breeding and crossing procedures which resulted in the cats with an interesting mix of features of different breeds.
Partially due to such disagreements, there are several different names used for the cats, including "Traditional Siamese", "Old Style Siamese", "Classic Siamese" and "Appleheads" (originally a derogatory nickname coined by modern-type Siamese breeders as an exaggerated description of less extremely wedge-shaped heads).
