Ragdoll Large Cats

Ragdoll are large cats with large round eyes and thick fur on the back that has marks on it. The overall look of these cats is light with dark marks on them giving them a distinct look. One of the friendliest breeds in cats, the Ragdoll are very easy going on humans.

They like to communicate with humans and play with them. Ragdoll kittens are especially adorable as they like to play and jog with their human kids. This breed is very intelligent and they learn things pretty quickly. It’s no surprise that ragdoll breeders are one of the most accomplished breeders in United States.

Ragdoll is the result with crossing done between a Persian breed name Josephine with to both a Burmese and Birman male. The result is Ragdoll, a breed that is exceptionally beautiful with fur and very good attitude towards humans. Not to mention their huge size. Ragdoll appears in four recognized colors of seal, blue, chocolate and lilac either with or without markings on the face and feet. Any of these colors may be transposed over each of the three patterns of Colourpointed, Mitted or Bicolour. Other nonstandard colors include red, cream, fawn, lynx and cinnamon.

Ragdoll are one breed that takes some time to mature because of their nature. These cats take about 3 to 4 years to mature and fully become an adult. But cat breeders are usually having more then one family of cats with them that in case doesn’t hurt their sales as much. Besides ragdoll kittens are widely sold as well. The Ragdoll is also considered the largest fully domestic breed of cat. Full size weight is often reached at about 4 years old with altered males sometimes reaching 20 pounds or more and female Ragdoll proportionally smaller.

There are more then one sub breed within Ragdoll. Most popular of them are Mink Ragdoll and quite rare as well. Only a handful of breeders have breaded these kittens. Ragdoll cat breeders in Colorado and Georgia are known to breed these rare animals and there has been an instance of breeding in Victoria, Australia as well. But they are rare and are quite costly.

They are called "Mink" because their fur is still smoother than that of the pointed Ragdoll, which is hardly possible, but they truly feel like a ladies mink. Ragdoll cats can be found for sale in United States and Britain as more and more cat breeders look to breed this lovely species and have become very popular among families due to their nice nature.
