Arts and Crafts on Cats

An animal as beautiful as the cat has been a gift to 1:'1.. the artist through the ages, as it still is today. In ancient Egypt pictures and sculptures of the cat goddess Bastet abounded, and in Japan the sacred animal was reproduced in innumerable paintings.

Despite its image as a witch's familiar, in Europe, artists like Durer even depicted it at the feet of Adam and Eve. It would be an impossible task to list the writers who have written about the cat.

Today, reinstated in its proper place, the cat is used in every form of art and the media -particularly in advertising. It sells matches and milk, it appears on stamps and is the hero of cartoons. It has become a television star, eating tins of cat food for the camera and even promoting washing powder. It is definitely part of our lives!
